Some Information about Ukraine
Ukraine is the state in Eastern Europe (the total area is 603,700 sq km), bordering Belarus on the north, the Russian Federation to the east and the north, Poland, Slovakia on the west, and Hungary, Romania and Moldova on the south-west. On the south Ukraine is washed by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
The climate is moderate-continental nearly all over Ukraine, except in the southern most region of the Crimea where it is sub-tropical. The longest river of Ukraine is the Dnipro (Dnieper) 2,201 miles in length, the largest mountain system are the Carpathians where the highest peak is the Hoverla (2,061m).
The population of Ukraine is approximately 50 Million, and 80% are Ukrainians. As for the religion, the largest denomination is
Orthodox and Greek Catholic churches.
Although Ukraine is considered to be a newly independent state it has a long and glorified history, it is rich in historical and cultural monuments of various epochs attracting many tourists to visit this country which is
relatively unknown to many people from all over the world.
